Downloading Images and Videos with an AI Label
Once your organization's label policy is set to Optional or Mandatory (see "Setting Up Visible AI Labels for Your Organization"), label controls appear right where you download. With the policy Off, downloads work as plain downloads and none of this applies.
Where you'll find the label controls
In the image view: click Download — the menu opens with the label controls at the top, above the download options:
Add visible AI label — the on/off switch. Under a Mandatory policy it's switched on and locked, with a note that your organization requires a visible AI label on downloads.
Label position — top left, top right, bottom left, or bottom right.
Label style — for EU icons: Black, White, Black (transparent), or White (transparent); for custom labels: your Graphite or White variant.
On gallery tiles: hover an image and you'll see an arrow next to the download icon. One click on the download icon applies your organization's default position and style; the arrow opens the same controls if you want to change them for this download.
Two things are never chosen per download: the label size (set once by your admins) and the icon type — whether the label says "AI generated" or "AI modified" is derived automatically from how the asset was made.
Why the first labeled download takes a moment
A labeled download isn't just an overlay — Samsa composites the label into the file, re-embeds the invisible watermark, and then digitally signs the labeled file again, so its Content Credential records the label that was applied. You'll see the steps as they happen: Labelling..., Signing..., Finishing...
The first labeled download of an asset takes around 15 seconds. After that, downloading the same asset with the same label settings is practically instant — if you pick a different corner or style, a fresh version is prepared.
What you get
The file keeps its format — PNG, JPEG, or WebP — and the filename ends in _labelled.
The labeled file carries its own Content Credential, including a record of the label application.
Your original stays untouched in Samsa — the label is only in the downloaded copy, so you can always come back for a different position, style, or an unlabeled version (if your policy allows it).
Videos
Videos can be labeled too. The label is rendered into the video itself, following the display pattern recommended for video disclosures:
Clips up to 30 seconds: the label stays visible for the entire clip.
Longer videos: the label shows prominently at the beginning and then reappears at regular intervals throughout the video.
Preparing a labeled video takes longer than an image, since every frame is rendered and the file is signed again — Samsa prepares it in the background, and the download becomes available as soon as it's ready. Longer videos can take a few minutes.
Good to know
Vector downloads (SVG) are graphic source files rather than finished imagery and don't carry a visible label.
Labels apply to downloads. Content you view or share inside Samsa is shown without a burned-in label.
If a labeled download can't be completed, Samsa tells you — under a Mandatory policy the file is never delivered without its label.
