Visible AI labels let your downloads carry a clear "AI GENERATED" or "AI MODIFIED" disclosure — burned into the image or video itself, so it stays visible wherever the file ends up. If your organization publishes AI content that needs to be disclosed (see the overview article in this collection), this is the tool for it.
Labels are off by default. Only organization owners and admins can change the settings; all members can view them.
Open the avatar menu in the bottom-left corner and choose Organization — this opens your Organization Settings. There, switch to the Compliance tab.
The policy decides whether labels are used at all:
Off — no label controls are shown on downloads. This is the default.
Optional — members can choose to add a label per download.
Mandatory — every download must include a visible AI label. Members see the label option switched on and locked. Samsa never delivers a file without its label under this policy — if labeling is temporarily unavailable, the download is held back rather than delivered unlabeled.
Choose Optional if you want to leave the decision to your team, and Mandatory if your organization has decided that everything leaving Samsa must be disclosed.
EU standard icons — the official icon set published by the European Commission, in four styles: Black, White, Black (transparent), and White (transparent). The Compliance tab shows all of them for reference, along with an explanation of when "AI generated" vs. "AI modified" is used. This is the default and the simplest choice — the icons follow the EU's design specifications exactly.
Custom (workspace-branded) — your own label cards, matching your brand. See below.
Default position — which corner the label sits in: top left, top right, bottom left, or bottom right. Members can still pick a different corner for an individual download; your setting is the default that's applied when they don't.
Label size — how large the label is rendered, relative to the image:
Small — 5% of the image's short edge (max 64px)
Medium — 7% of the image's short edge (max 96px). Recommended.
Large — 10% of the image's short edge (max 128px)
Whatever the size, the label never renders below 28px, so it stays clearly legible on every image.
If you'd rather use labels in your own brand design, switch the label source to Custom and upload your label cards:
Format: PNG, up to 1 MB per card.
Two variants: Graphite (dark) and White (light) — so there's a legible option for both bright and dark imagery.
Both icon types per variant: each variant needs an AI generated card and an AI modified card. A variant becomes available once both are uploaded, and you can save the custom source as soon as at least one variant is complete.
Clear wording required: each card must clearly disclose the AI origin of the content, with wording equivalent to "AI generated" or "AI modified" — just like the EU standard icons.
Once the custom source is active, downloads composite your card exactly as uploaded — nothing is substituted or restyled.
Your policy applies to the whole organization right away: every member's downloads follow it, whether they work in the gallery, in projects, or from the feed. How the download itself works — including choosing position and style per download — is covered in "Downloading Images and Videos with an AI Label".
