Every image and video you create with Samsa is digitally signed the moment it's created — before you even see it in your gallery. This signature is called a Content Credential and is based on C2PA, an open industry standard for content provenance that's supported by major technology, media, and camera companies.
Think of it as a digital certificate of origin that travels inside the file.
That the content was made with AI — the core transparency information required by the EU AI Act.
When it was created, with a trusted timestamp.
Whether it was fully AI-generated or AI-modified — the same classification that drives the visible AI label (see "AI Generated or AI Modified" in this collection).
For edited content: what kind of edit was made — for example inpainting, upscaling, or background removal — and which asset it was derived from. Every edited version gets its own fresh credential; the original keeps its own.
A reference to the invisible watermark, linking the two marking layers together.
When a visible AI label was applied, the labeled file's credential records that too.
Your prompts are not part of the credential, and neither is any personal information about the team member who created the asset. The credential is about the content's origin, not about you.
The signature is cryptographic: if someone alters the file after signing, verification tools will show that the credential no longer matches the content. Nobody — including Samsa — can secretly change a signed file without breaking its credential.
Almost nothing. Signing takes a few seconds and happens right after generation — occasionally you'll see a brief "Signing..." state on a fresh tile before it becomes available. Your files look exactly the same; the credential lives in the file's metadata, not in the pixels.
Some social networks and messaging apps remove file metadata on upload — and with it, the Content Credential. That's not something any provider can prevent, and it's exactly why Samsa embeds a second, independent layer: the invisible watermark, which lives in the pixels themselves and stays put when metadata is stripped.
