The EU AI Act is the European Union's framework for artificial intelligence. For everyone who creates visual content with AI, its transparency rules (Article 50) matter most: AI-generated and AI-edited content must be identifiable as such — through machine-readable marking built into the file itself, and in certain situations through a visible disclosure to the people who see it.
Samsa takes care of the technical side automatically and gives you flexible tools for the visible part. Samsa is also among the signatories of the European Commission's Code of Practice on Transparency of AI-Generated Content — the official guidance document for putting Article 50 into practice. Every image and video you create with Samsa carries up to three layers:
Content Credentials — a digital signature. Every file is digitally signed the moment it's created. The signature travels with the file and records, in a tamper-evident way, that the content was made with AI, when, and whether it was fully generated or modified.
An invisible watermark. A machine-readable mark woven directly into the pixels. You can't see it, but verification tools can — even if the file's metadata gets removed along the way.
A visible AI label — under your control. On download, your files can carry a visible "AI GENERATED" or "AI MODIFIED" label, using the official EU icons or your own custom design. This layer is off by default — owners and admins decide if and how your organization uses it.
The first two layers are fully automatic. You never have to think about them, and they don't change how your content looks. The third layer is a choice you make for your organization.
Samsa, as the provider of the AI system, makes sure every generated file is marked in a machine-readable way and offers a free public verification service at detect.samsa.ai. This happens automatically for all your content.
Your organization, as the deployer — the one publishing the content — can have transparency obligations of its own. Article 50(4) of the EU AI Act requires deployers to disclose certain AI content visibly, for example realistic images or videos of people, places, or events that could be mistaken for authentic recordings (so-called deep fakes). The visible AI label exists exactly for this: once you turn it on, every download can carry a clear disclosure based on the official EU icon set.
